Editorial & Verification Policy
People make real money decisions based on our calculators and guides. This page explains exactly how we research, verify, and maintain that information.
Our commitment to accuracy
FinEst publishes Indian personal-finance and tax content — calculators, rules explainers, and guides. Accuracy is non-negotiable. Every figure that affects a calculation (exemption limits, tax rates, interest rates, statutory caps) is traced back to an official government source before it is published.
Where a topic is genuinely open to interpretation, we say so rather than presenting an opinion as settled law.
How we research and verify content
We use a combination of research tools — including AI-assisted research — to gather and draft information quickly. AI is a starting point, never the final authority. Before anything is published, the substantive facts are checked against primary sources:
- Tax law and exemption limits are verified against the Income Tax Department (Acts, Rules, and CBDT notifications) and the India Code repository of Central Acts.
- Provident fund and pension figures are verified against the EPFO.
- Labour and wage rules are verified against the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
- Calculator formulas are cross-checked against worked examples and widely used references before release.
Sourcing and citations
Pages that depend on statutory figures carry a Sources & References section listing the legal basis, the official sources used, and the date the content was last verified. If you can't trace a number to a source, treat it as unverified and let us know.
How we keep content current
- Rate- and rule-sensitive pages are reviewed after every Union Budget and on major regulatory changes (wage code rollout, EPFO rate declarations, CBDT notifications).
- Each sourced page shows a “last verified” date so you know how recent the check was.
- Superseded figures are corrected in place; we do not leave stale statutory numbers live.
